Christina Wei, PhD, APRN,

Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse

Practitioner-Board Certified

Christina Wei is a San Antonio native with over 20 years of health care experience. Her practice is located on the northwest side of San Antonio near the South Texas Medical Center. She enjoys getting to know and understanding her patients with care so that she can help them in their recovery. She is the proud daughter of a veteran.  She would be honored to take care of you!

Christina Wei specializes in prescribing medication for depression and other mental health problems. She enjoys caring for her patients by getting to know them and becoming their partner in health care to meet their mental health needs. If you have received medication previously for a mental health condition she can evaluate your condition and prescribe medication. She can also provide advice if you have never taken medication and might wonder if medication is right for you for problems with issues such as emotions, appetite, energy, or sleep. Christina Wei has a conservative approach to medication management, very carefully weighing the risks and benefits of a wide variety of treatment approaches.

What sets Nurse Practitioners apart from other health care providers is their unique emphasis on the health and well-being of the whole person with a focus on health promotion, disease prevention, and health education & counseling.

Christina Wei completed her first master’s degree program in 2005 in Nursing Administration and her doctorate in Clinical Nursing Research in 2009 with a specialization in substance abuse and mental health with 5 years of pre-doctoral financial, educational, and research support provided by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (www.samhsa.gov) at the American Nurses Association Minority Fellowship Program. In 2010, Christina Wei completed a post-master’s certificate in Nursing and received board certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (www.nursecredentialing.org) as a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner which allowed her to prescribe medication and conduct group and individual psychotherapy for individuals with mental illness. Christina Wei is thankful for the support of highly respected Psychiatrist Robert Kalter, MD, for his delegation of prescriptive authority so that she may prescribe medication for her patients.
